Important Recruiting Update

Posted on Feb 6 2012 - 10:55am

We want to thank everyone who's expressed an interest in joining Troop 1346.  Please note that because of the large number of boys who have stated their intent to join our Troop, we have exceeded our available openings for 2012 New Scouts.  Therefore, to preserve the quality of our program, WE ARE CLOSING DOWN OUR NEW SCOUT CROSSOVER ACCEPTANCES FOR 2012.  Fortunately, as our Scoutmaster explained at our January open house, there are many fine Boy Scout Troops in our area.  If you need help identifying other Troops to investigate, please feel free to contact our Scoutmaster.  We want every boy to be able to find a good Troop home for his Scouting adventures.

Summer Camp Sign-ups are open!

Posted on Feb 2 2012 - 11:18am

Summer Camp sign-ups are open during the month of February.  We'll be at Camp Ockanickon in Pennsylvania the week of July 22-28 (this date is a correction of an erroneous date announced earlier).  To get the early bird rate, a payment of is due n/l/t 2/27 is $348.00 per continuing Scout (Webelos crossing over this spring have longer to pay and still get this rate).  There will also be a small add-on fee for Troop consumables, driver gas/tolls, etc.  We hope to also have an optional overnighter on the USS New Jersey Battleship on July 21, en route to camp.  Contact John Rickards for details.

Troop 1346 Honor Guard Service

Posted on Feb 2 2012 - 11:18am

The National Capital Area Council has again chosen Troop 1346 to represent our Council's Scouts as the official Council Honor Guard at a major awards event.  We will be performing this service on February 8 at the Williard Intercontinental Hotel in D.C.  See the Troop e-mail for details.  Photos of our our last Council Color Guard service in May 2011 are attached (you must be logged in to access the file).

Valley Forge Campout is coming up!

Posted on Jan 26 2012 - 10:58am

On Feb. 17-19, Troop 1346 is returning to one of our favorite events - the BSA Encampment weekend at Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania.  This year is the 100th anniversary of what is the oldest continuous Scout event in North America.  We expect to be camping and doing fun historical activities with several thousand of our fellow Scouts from throughout the mid-Atlantic.  Sign-ups will be at our next two Troop meetings.
